What’s That Buzzing Around My Head . . A Messerschmitt?

The thing that I didn’t realize about Hitler and Nazi Germany was that, even though we regard it as a horrible time in our history, it was popular with the people of Germany.  The horrible things weren’t happening to the everyday German, as long as you weren’t the targeted group.  The government played upon the fears of the people and promised solutions.  This was Progressive popular.

Even though there were roving groups to neutralize dissidents, think Trump identifying dissidents to be punished by his supporters, that didn’t happen to the ‘law abiding’ Germans.

It looked everyday like police taking care of problems.  But, for most it looked like everyday in the USA.  You worked, you loved your children, you helped with the fight against tyranny, and you went to bed, happy to have contributed.  The normal population didn’t know about the camps, the horrors that were being perpetrated in the name of cleaning things up.

It didn’t look like the pictures of the ovens, the shattered bodies, the SS Officers strident in their poses.  It looked like normal times, until the battle was brought back to German soil.

My point is that there can be tyranny and monstrous things happening, and you wouldn’t be aware of it unless you were paying close attention

So, if you pay attention, you notice that the subversion and attempts to discredit the media is the same, the targeting of minority groups who are ‘responsible’ for our problems is the same, the attempt to use the state to go after political opponents is the same, and, sadly enough, the unwillingness of the Congress to do their job as citizens of the United States  is the same.

If it weren’t for the free media we wouldn’t even have known about the atrocity of separating families for political purposes . . . well, at least we know this wasn’t the first time this was done in history. . . the Third Reich did it, too!!
