The culture of the United States is a hodge-podge of many disparate cultures that have merged together yielding a wonderful blend that is still, even with the racist behavior of the President and cronies, the envy of the world.
One thing that is ingrained is the inherent kindness, the willingness to give people the benefit of the doubt. You can see this in our legal system where we give people the opportunity to defend themselves, to reform themselves if they so choose, and the opportunity to get out of prison based on good behavior. This used to extend to our immigration system, but that has been temporarily sidelined through ignorance and bad behavior.
All in all, when you think of the people in your daily life, they are basically good and kind. It’s what we are as a people, despite the occasional aberrations. People are respected and supported as well as anywhere on earth.
So, it is always a great surprise when someone comes along with no morals and purposefully tries to use the largess of the systems to their own personal and malevolent advantage.
And, unfortunately we don’t appear to have any legal way to stop these corrupt abusers when they become President and are, therefore, the top law enforcement official in the United States.
