The Pot Calling the Kettle Black

The release of the information yesterday regarding the Inspector General’s report on James Comey was not unexpected.  He broke some FBI rules by taking some unclassified memos and releasing them to the public.   These were primarily memos that prove that the President was putting undue pressure on him to obstruct justice.

I see this as a minor version of the Pentagon Papers.  This information was critical to the understanding that the President was obstructing justice, and the FBI rules should have been tempered by common sense, and were not.

I don’t think the willy-nilly release of classified information is the best thing for the country.  But, important information that can cover up crimes does not fall into this category.

Like the Pentagon Paper before them, these documents fall squarely into the category of proof required by the American people to understand the situation accurately. . . in this case, that the government was trying to obstruct justice.

The archaic rules, invented by bureaucrats who have the best of intentions, if not common sense, are supposed to be tempered by human consideration and fairness.

And, of course, the protestations of Donald Trump are just a laughable demonstration of the pot calling the kettle black.
