Most of the major democracies in the world are suffering attacks from the right wing, who wants to bring us back to the good old days . . . the days that benefitted the good old boys.
In order to stop progress the people that want to bring back polio, lynchings, and white privilege, has seized upon the nullification of government . . i.e. if they can’t get what they want, then nobody gets what they want. They have managed to get a majority of the people in the country to believe that the democracy doesn’t work . . at least, it doesn’t work for the majority who would like to see progress on important issues.
This has been true for the other major democracies in the world and, if you believe the polls, no one is happy with democracy, because only the white minority is getting something.
This is where Donald Trump came from. But, he fooled everyone because he turned out to be an incompetent, selfish crook. Note, however, that his followers can’t seem to shed their sheepskin, which tells us something about our population and the formenting unhappiness of the uneducated and illiterate.
There has to be a penalty for commandeering a system meant to be fair and just for all and turning it into a self-serving vehicle for the minority, bigoted right wingers.
Let’s hope the government can change without revolution.
