There is a point in everyone’s life when they were at the peak of their powers. A confluence of native talent, developed skills, confidence and the serendipity of that moment that brought them to that spot and, for as long as it lasted . . it was gliding above the clouds . . .
Relatively speaking, it doesn’t last as long as it could . . or should, but it’s a wondrous place to be.
You can see it in the compressed lives of artists. It is always enjoyable, elevating, to see them at the peak of their powers. And, through the magic of technology, you get to see them afterwards . . what is left after the intense white heat of their lives totally consumed them.
It’s what gives us perspective, if not pause for thought.
