I have renewed respect for the mob. Yes, I know their original goals of security and protection in the new world became dangerously out of step with the new realities in the 20th century; however, I have always liked their can-do attitude. No fooling around with considerations like danger, laws, the police . . they persevered!
Take, for example, this past week. We discovered that the frozen environment on Mount Everest was melting and releasing bodies from the ice . . perfectly preserved. A Sherpa friend of mine just told me, on the bye and bye, that they found Jimmy Hoffa’s body emerging from the ice at the 29,000 foot level.
Think about it. This is no small feat. People train for years to be able to scale Mount Everest. They hire Sherpas who have spent their whole lives on the mountain and whose families have physically adapted to the frozen environment over centuries.
However, the mob whacked Jimmy and dumped his body at the 29,000 foot level of Mount Everest. Man, that’s amazing!
