Pardon Me Boy

There seems to be some question about whether or not the Justice Department in the Joe Biden administration should go after Trump for obstruction of justice.

He absolutely has to, and here’s why.  Any President who knows that he or she can successfully obstruct justice and break the law with impunity . . and not have consequences, is going to do just that.  Democratic or Republican.  And, we have seen that a complicit Senate means there are no consequences for the President.

And, even if the Senate isn’t complicit and the President gets removed, he can still pardon everyone on the way out so, in effect, there are no consequences.

So, for example, this could happen.  A Democratic president (for example) could have the Republican leadership (for example McConnell, et al.) assassinated.  The killers could immediately turn themselves in, plead guilty, and the President could pardon them all. They would just have to be sure not to run afoul of any State laws.

Somehow, I don’t think this is what the framers of the constiution intended when they granted the President the pardon power.
