So, let’s talk herd immunity. This is not a new concept. Luckily, we have centuries of experience with herd immunity.
Have you heard of the Black Death? Well, European governments, defacto, decided on herd immunity and, to their great surprise, forty percent of the population of Europe died, conservatively estimated at about 200 million people!
Cosimo de Medici in 1435 was overheard extolling the values of herd immunity. He was quoted as saying,’OMG. What happened to all our servants?’
He should have died of the Bubonic Plague, but didn’t. Oh, if only life were fair 😊 !
But, we all can see how well herd immunity worked out . . .40% of the population died! Think about it . . 2 people in your family of 5? Who would you pick?
Intelligent people eschewed the idea of herd immunity after 2000 years of plagues and pestilences, and took a course toward intelligent action to protect ourselves.
So, if you want herd immunity, kindly point out the two people in your immediate family that you want to bear the brunt of medieval ignorance.
