We deride the violence that is happening in Minnesota and other places. We know that is the right response in order to keep order and process in place . . which is to guarantee fairness and justice to the greatest number of people from an overall perspective.
But, I can understand the violence. Thank god for video that can be shot from smartphones! Otherwise, the police would have gotten away with yet another murder of a black person. You can imagine what has happened in the past 150 years in the name of law enforcement in the United States when there was no video proof.
If you were a black person in the 1940’s and 50’s, what is the probability that you would get justice? Or, that you wouldn’t just be murdered by the police? Or, you wouldn’t be thrown in prison? We know the rate of incarceration of black people in this country.
So, I would like to say burn it all down, except I know that would only make it worse.
This democracy is not what we were taught in school. It is a crappy form of government which promotes values hundreds of years old and has the ability to grow only after the bigoted white people are long in their graves . . but, it is still the best form of government on the planet.
So, don’t burn it down. Fix it.
