We climbed six flights of stairs to get to our small studio apartment in the Montmartre district of Paris. I had forgotten about the significance of being on the sixth floor! When we were in Paris in 2013 we lived in an apartment in the 15th Arrondissement near the Eiffel Tower . . also, on the sixth floor. We were in really great shape after three months!
This is a nice apartment, but tiny, just like a lot of Paris apartments. I am propped up on a pillow leaning against the headboard, really a wall, writing and thinking about the trip and here are my current thoughts:
- Almost every place that we have stayed has been renovated with showers, commodes, dressers. So, they have had to be put in without the need for prior plumbing, etc. So, these types of appliances can be used to renovate any home in the US, like ours, without needing any prior plumbing, electrical, etc. So, the only question is where are the distributors in California?
- We are a mid-sized wheel turning in a universe of interconnected multi-sized, multi-dimensional wheels, like an old mechanical clock on steroids. The biggest one is the universe which is so large that its movements appear to be imperceptible, even if we know that it is unquestionably moving. Each wheel is a cycle. There are thousands, millions, billions, all interconnected and running off the same main spring. And, we have the luxury of being able to create more and multi-dimensional cycles, like products that we create, sell, and obsolete. It is this main spring that drives all of human life and which connects all of human life. This engenders all kinds of questions.
Another thought has sprung into the main spring of my mind! The Rue Houdon is just down a few blocks. I think I am going to get at baguette at Au Levain D’Antan. It’s famous baguettes have a very short life cycle!
