He said, “Stand up, let me show you something”. I knew I was in trouble. The last time my dad tried to demonstate a boxing move after a couple of beers (or more), he knocked me out with a left jab. I don’t believe I actually lost consciousness . . I was just shocked that I could end up on the ground and not even see the punch.
So, I knew I was in trouble, but I stood up. My dad was a very gentle man in his 30’s and 40’s, but his demeanor belied the fact that he was a very tough youth on the streets of New York in his teens. And, in addition, he fought professionally and trained fighters.
So, I was worried.
He buried his head just below my shoulder and said, “Hit me”.
Well, no matter how I tried to hit him, he just kept his head buried in my chest and tied me up. I couldn’t get my hands free enough to even try to punch.
“That’s how Archie Moore does it”, he said. It doesn’t look like boxing, but Archie was the Heavyweight Champion of the world with that style.
“What style?” I said. It was just wrestling with your arms and trying to swing . . no actual hitting took place. Eventually, the other person just fell over from exhaustion.
That was the Vice-Presidential debate tonight. An experienced politician wrestling everything to the ground so very little could be said. Everything I hate about politics was on display.
But, the good news is that Archie lost.
Pence looked and acted a robot. Did he even believe his own lies?
It is hard to believe anyone could say those things with a straight face . . which tells me a lot about Mike Pence. But, really what can you expect from a Trump/Pence un-reality show?
