And Boris Doesn’t Even Play Baseball

I played baseball with the Pearl City Tigers when I was young.  It was a stellar team with a lot of talented players . . and, then there was me.  Well, that’s not the story 🙂 .

The catcher on the team was a good friend.  He was my friend when I had few others.  I had just come to Pearl City from Waianae and was somewhat of a loner.

In one key game Harold was given the signal to bunt, to sacrifice in a run.  So the pitcher threw a zinging fast ball right at him, expecting him to dodge the pitch.  Instead, he tried to bunt the ball off the handle of the bat.  The ball ricocheted off the bat and broke his nose.

‘Egad, and little fishes’, as my mother used to say.

Yes, sports fans, Harold tried to bunt a bean-ball.  We were kids, and these things happen to kids.

But, I am amazed when a ‘seeming’ adult tries to do this . . such as is the case with Boris Johnson.

In this case, a broken nose would be fitting . . and even hoped for.
