After the rainfall the leaves are covered with a layer of moisture and you can smell the warmth and humidity in the air. Flowers are the best. Plumerias dance in my mind as I think about the afterfall of rain.
I remember looking up and seeing the clouds and mist above me, seemingly forbidding, but in reality just a respite from the travails of the day.
Aloha Pest Control sent me to the house in the Manoa Valley. It was raining lightly and I was a little concerned because the house was on a hill . . much like our house on Hoohaku St. They had a little problem with some mites from a bird that had passed in the eaves. I cleaned it out and sprayed the eaves . .
The mist was still heavy and I took all my gear to the truck and packed it up.
The old Aloha Pest Control truck had a broken gear shift. Not a problem. It was jucka-lacka (is this a word?) any way.
But, then I looked up at the sun breaking through the clouds and the moisture as it left the delicate leaves of the plumeria. And, the fragrance.
It’s a wonderful world.
