It’s a rough and tumble world, especially if you want to get something done. There is no straight line from where you are to where you want to be.
It’s kind of like soccer . . you just keep increasing the pressure and the probability of success increases. Having said that, scoring in soccer is pitiful. The most common score is a 1-0 over 94 minutes. One to nothing!
Speaking of futility. Nothing seems to happen regarding the handling of guns in the United States. No one is trying to take guns away from hunters or guns from aficionados . . only the military style ones, the ones with big magazines designed to spray hundreds of bullets in seconds. And, we don’t want to outlaw them, we just want to manage their use so the crazies don’t have them available for human target practice.
Now I am the last person to think that the government can manage anything well. Our actual bureaucracy has far outstripped the technology of managing bureaucracies of this size. We are perhaps 500 years away from understanding what we are doing.
However, I can say for sure that our current methodology for managing guns is ineffective and needs to be changed, even if, heaven forbid, the government has to do it.
It can’t be left to the gun owners. They have clearly failed.
