We were in the lobby of a hotel on Rue Monge in Paris. We had just checked into the hotel and lamented the fact that the airlines had lost Nancy’s luggage. However, we were excited to be there . . it was Paris, after all! And, we were going to make the best of it.
The desk clerks had been very kind and after a few halting attempts to communicate in French, we were surprised and happy to learn that their English was very good.
In a few moments, an American tourist came in and loudly made his way to the front desk. He started shouting about his baggage being lost (I guess it is common) and screamed the the clerks.
A clerk tried to calm him down, but the American wouldn’t have it, as he extolled the virtues of the American airports and efficiency in managing his baggage . . this had never happened to him before. In the end, he didn’t get his baggage, and unfortunately the desk clerks did not speak English well enough to be of any help to him 😊
We, each of us, make our own luck, and find what we look for in life.
So, it is with askance that I look at our government leaders who are constantly blaming others . . other peoples, other countries, other political parties for their own maladies.
Like I said, people find what they look for, whether or not they want to take responsibility for it or not.
