A Pill In My Pocket

Throughout my life I have always felt that it was best to address medical issues immediately . . try to resolve it before it gets worse!    I haven’t always been successful at this strategy, but I thought it was the best approach.

I felt it was important to know what the issues were . . anxiety about what they could be was worse than the actual thing!

In the 1970’s I had to get a wisdom tooth taken out.  It was coming in and pushing my front teeth around because of the pressure.  I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Dietrich.  He was an excellent dentist, and I knew he could do a good job.  I said that I would call and schedule the actual date as soon as I could get off work.  They gave me the tranquilizers to take before coming in for the surgery.  Two years later I was still carrying the tranquilizers around in my pocket . . it was good to know, but did I really want to have a tooth pulled out . . yipes.

So recently when I went in for an echocardiogram and talked to the cardiologist, she recommended an angiogram.  I scheduled it immediately.  I wanted to know!

I discovered that, if needed, they would immediately do an angioplasty since they were already in there.  In there?  How much ‘in there’ are we talking about?

Well, it is scheduled for a week from Friday.  OK . . . . . YIPES!

Unfortunately, this is not a pill I can carry around for years while I think about it   🙂   .
